Milk Factory
Water buffaloes are by far the most prevalent source of milk, at least in Northern India, and their yield and fat content is much superior to that of cows. Their milk is however not used in traditional ayurvedic medicine and many claim that it is not as healthy as desi (Indian) cow's milk. These water buffaloes need their daily walk to a water pond where they spend hours sitting immersed in water before they will yield any milk at all. Their owner walking with a bunch of them to and from a local water body is a common sight in rural back drops. Keeping cattle of any kind is prohibited in the urban areas of Delhi, and this picture was taken in a village off of the Jaipur highway in Gurgaon.
